Tax Collector

The Tax Collector is responsible for collecting all Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicle taxes, including any interest and fees that may be due, in accordance with the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut.  The Office of Tax Collector is an elected, four-year term.

The office assists in maintaining the fiscal health of the Town of Woodbury through effective collection and processing of payments, along with assisting the public in understanding the taxation process and procedures with regards to these laws.

 

Taxes Become Due July 1, 2025

If you do not receive a bill and think that you should, please contact the Tax Office as soon as possible.  Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or any penalties accrued per Sec.12-130of the Connecticut General Statute. 

Tax bills for the Town of Woodbury will be mailed at the end of June.

Real estate bills under $100, personal property bills under $100, and motor vehicle tax bills become due in full on July 1, 2025, payable by August 1, 2025.  After the last day to pay of August 1, 2025, interest at a rate of 1.5% per month back to the original due date of July 1, 2025 will be applied on all delinquent tax balances, per Sec. 12-146 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

The second installment of real estate and personal property bills over $100 become due January 1, 2026, payable by February 2, 2026.  No additional bill will be mailed for the second installment.

Motor vehicle tax bills due July 1, 2025 will be generated for vehicles registered/residing in the Town of Woodbury on October 1, 2024.  Vehicles registered after that date, and before September 30, 2025, will be billed as a supplemental motor vehicle in January 2026.  If you no longer own a vehicle, please contact the Assessor’s office prior to payment.
