Pomperaug Valley Garden Club - The History of Honey

The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club will host a lecture by beekeeper Cathy Wolko of the Humble Bee Company, on “The Sweet History of Honey and Honey Tasting” at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 8th, 2022, at the Emergency Services building, 25 Quassuk Road, Woodbury, CT.Guests are welcome to join us for a $5 donation. Refreshments will be served.

Cathy will speak on why we love honey, what makes it light or dark, why it crystallizes and other age old questions. The Humble Bee Company, based in Oakville, CT. was established in 2010 and Cathy is a member of the Connecticut Farm Bureau, The Backyard Beekeeper’s Association, the Eastern Agriculture Society and the American Beekeeping Federation. There will be various types of honey to taste plus honey and soaps for sale.

The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club is a charter member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut and National Garden Clubs. The club sponsors speakers at monthly meetings, garden-oriented field trips, numerous civic beautification and educational outreach projects in Woodbury, and a scholarship program.
