Pomperaug Valley Garden Club - "Edible Landscaping" CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER

The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club presents Daniel Furman, co-owner of Cricket Hill Garden in Thomaston, CT., who will give talk on “Edible Landscaping” on Tuesday March 14, 2023, 11 a.m. at the Emergency Services building, 25 Quassuk Road, Woodbury, CT.Guests are welcome to join us for a $5 donation. Refreshments will be served.

 

Edible landscapes aim to nourish the mind, body and ecology. Furman will discuss how to create unique, functional and edible landscapes in New England’s climate, how to grow heirloom apples and historic pears, as well as pawpaw and persimmon. He will cover the what, where and how of incorporating fruiting trees and shrubs into the landscape, whether the goal is delicious chemical free fruit, providing fodder for wildlife or a beautifully designed garden. A plant sale will follow the talk.

 

The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club is a charter member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut and National Garden Clubs. The club sponsors speakers at monthly meetings, garden-oriented field trips, numerous civic beautification and educational outreach projects in Woodbury, and a scholarship program.
