WOODBURY — The Arts Alliance of Woodbury will host its Fall Quarterly Meet and Greet from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Leroy Anderson House, 33 Grassy Hill Rd, Woodbury, CT. A convivial night of the arts that will include complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres and feature the talents of piano vocal duo Jan Maki and Will Fownes, performing from the American Songbook, and guitarist, singer song writer “Dr. Steve” (Steven Prasinos).

The Leroy Anderson House in Woodbury, CT was the home of American composer Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) and his wife Eleanor Firke Anderson (1918-2014). The Leroy Anderson House is a Historic House Museum on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the headquarters of the Leroy Anderson Foundation, Inc.

The Arts Alliance of Woodbury’s Quarterly Meet & Greet events were created to host social events to gather together our growing arts community and provide short introductions to the talents of its members along with ample time to meet, and mingle. Given the rich musical history of the Leroy Anderson

House & Museum – as such, two long time AAW Members have been selected for the September quarterly.

Known for their talents as part of the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra, the beloved soloist Jan Maki and pianist Will Fownes, will perform a set of songs from the Great American Songbook along with a few modern standards with Will Fownes performing on Leroy Anderson’s own piano.

Meanwhile, upon arrival and at selected times throughout the evening, guests will be treated to the music of Dr. Steve who will be playing mainly instrumental guitar as background music while people socialize.  He will be offering a mix of classical music, folk tunes, and jazz standards.

Dr. Steve is Steven Prasinos, a clinical psychologist, author, and singer/songwriter.  As a psychologist Steven has had a successful psychotherapy practice for over 35 years.  As an author he has published numerous professional articles, often exploring the integration of psychology and spirituality.  He has given talks on dream interpretation, psychology and soul and the psychology of music.  He is also a published science fiction author and budding watercolorist.  As a musician, Dr. Steve has been writing songs for over 25 years.  He has placed first or second in three separate New England Songwriter Competitions (2023, 2022, 2020) and first in the 2014 CT Folk contest.  Dr. Steve also teaches “ShadowSongs: A Psychological Approach to Songwriting".  He performs throughout Connecticut as "The Psinging Psychologist" and likes to engage the audience in discussing the nature of "the good life".  He also fronts “The Dr. Steve Band.”   Steven lives with his wife Nancy in rural Connecticut.  They have 2 lovely daughters.
