She is going to relate some of the Safe Haven success stories. Note that despite the pandemic, Louisa has continued to facilitate workshops and training both virtually and in-person.
Speaker: Louisa Printz, Community Educator & Prevention Coordinator at Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury since 2011.
Speaker Bio:
Louisa has her Associates degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College and Bachelors of Science in Psychology & Human Services from the University of Bridgeport and Masters in Marriage and Family therapy at CCSU. She currently practices as a Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and is working towards her licensure.
In her role at Safe Haven, Louisa provides outreach prevention and educational presentations to the community about domestic violence and sexual assault. The majority of her time is spent in the local schools and colleges presenting programs on such topics as: bullying, personal safety, appropriate/inappropriate behaviors & touches, dating violence, healthy relationships, self-esteem, internet safety, predator danger, acquaintance rape and sexting, men and masculinity, and social emotional techniques. She provides training for parents, the Safe Haven staff and community professionals including local police.
She is heavily involved in both their Medical Advocacy Program which provides collaboration between Safe Haven and medical providers to better assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their Lethality Assessment Program. The LAP helps police officers to identify potential victims of domestic violence who are at risk of serious injury or death by their intimate partners and to immediately connect them to Safe Haven for support and services.
