The WJWC Inc., an affiliate of Connecticut Junior Women, Inc., is a group of women whose focus is to promote common interests in education, philanthropy, public health and welfare, moral values, civics, conservation, and fine arts.
Any woman over the age of 18 years who is interested in the objectives of the Club is eligible for membership.
Members are asked to contribute their time, efforts and enthusiasm to provide programs and services for projects that serve our community, as well as some projects offering support throughout the state.
In past years, community events have included the fifth/sixth grade spelling bee, the American Red Cross blood drive, the Christmas Salvation Army bucket collections, Meals-on-Wheels deliveries, a variety of educational speakers, and sponsoring the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department's concerts.
WJWC has plans for the 2014-15 club year to continue to lend support to the Woodbury Community Services Council Food Bank and Adopt a Family programs, Woodbury Library, Community Enhancement Grant and scholarships for graduating high school seniors, as well as a continuing education scholarship for adult learners, to name a few.
Woodbury Juniors sponsor a variety of annual events such as the Bunny Breakfast, Christmas Craft Fair, and a Benefit Dance supporting Wounded Warriors/Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes. These events provide monetary support for club projects.
The members also get together several times a year for club social events.
WJWC meets at 7:00 p.m. , the third Wednesday of each month at First Congregational Church, 214 Main St S, Woodbury, CT 06798.
