Woodbury Board of Finance Sets FY 2026-27 Mill Rate
At its May 27, 2026 meeting, the Woodbury Board of Finance unanimously set the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 mill rate at 25.04 mills, following voter approval of both the municipal and Region 14 budgets at the May 5 referendum. The increase reflects several significant budget drivers, including an 8.71% increase in continuing municipal operations (approximately $989,000), a $920,000 increase in capital spending, a $277,000 increase in group medical insurance costs, and additional funding for contingency and strategic initiatives that support the Town's long-term needs. Major capital investments include public works vehicles and equipment, emergency communications upgrades, an ERP system implementation, facility improvements, public safety equipment, and parks and recreation projects. To lessen the impact on taxpayers, the Board utilized a combination of funding sources, including $713,281 in estimated FY 2025-2026 surplus, $793,344 from the Unassigned Fund Balance, $226,600 from the Capital Reserve Fund, and $115,358 in LoCIP funding to offset budgeted expenditures before establishing the mill rate. The Board believes this budget balances fiscal responsibility with maintaining essential services, addressing infrastructure needs, and investing in Woodbury's future.
