Fire Services Administrative Assistant– F/T

 

The Fire Services Administrative Assistant works under the direction of the Fire Marshal and Fire Chief and provides complex and skilled administrative support, maintains accurate department records, carries out a variety of routine and non-routine clerical tasks, and provides outstanding customer service to the public.

 Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.  A minimum of 3 years related work experience as administrative assistant or office manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ability to quickly learn the organizational and operating characteristics of the Fire Department and Fire Marshal Office
  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Google programs, and various online meeting platforms.  Experience with NFIRS a plus.
  • Perform highly detailed work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
  • Knowledge of website maintenance with the ability to effectively leverage innovative technology, social media platforms, and marketing tools to promote Fire Department programs and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively over the phone, in person, and writing and provide .
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with diverse customers in a respectful, non-confrontational manner.
  • Co-manage the Town of Woodbury’s website by regularly posting updates and changes in conjunction with the directives of the First Selectman’s office. The hourly rate posted for this position reflects having this key responsibility in addition to the duties listed in the job description.

 The position is full-time with health insurance benefits and is considered a non-exempt, union position working 35 hours a week.  The pay rate is $23-$25 per hour.  Application deadline is Friday, July 12, 2024.
