Lead Custodian
The Town of Woodbury is accepting applications for a Lead Custodian. This is a full-time, 35 hours per week non-union position with benefits. This position falls under the direct supervision of the Building Maintainer.
The Lead Custodian is responsible for coordinating daily custodial operations, assigning tasks, and providing backup custodial coverage to ensure efficient workflow and cleanliness standards throughout the facilities. The Lead Custodian performs regular facility inspections, monitors custodial inventory, and assists with ordering supplies. In addition, this position supports the Building Maintainer with general building repairs and maintenance as needed.
Availability to respond to emergency situations, building issues, and critical system outages outside of normal working hours is required. Responsible for providing custodial coverage and support during employee absences, vacations, or staffing shortages. Occasional evenings, weekends, or holiday work may be required to accommodate operational needs.
An applicant must have the following education, knowledge and skills:
- Previous experience in custodial supervision, building maintenance, or related field
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Good organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Physical ability to lift, climb ladders, bend, and perform manual labor
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and chemical handling procedures
