Public Works Administrative Assistant
The Public Works Administrative Assistant is a crucial position that supports the Director and Supervising Foreman with the operations of the Public Works Department and Transfer Station and the department’s response to emergency events, including weather events and natural disasters.
- Associate’s degree in business administration or related field preferred. Minimum of a High School degree (or equivalent) required.
- Minimum of four years of office administration experience.
- Excellent personal, telephone and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal effectively and in a non-confrontational manner.
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Office suite required, including Excel.
- Experience with budget management; planning, expense tracking
- Understanding of Public Works procedures and related administrative functions.
- Ability to initiate improvements to office procedures and workflow.
- CT Solid Waste and Transfer Station Certification or willing to obtain.
- Valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to and from work, especially during inclement weather.
This is a full time, 35 hours per week, union position with benefits. Pay range is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour, based on experience.
Work hours: Winter Hours (Labor Day to Memorial Day): 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
Summer Hours (Memorial Day to Labor Day): 6:30 am – 2:30 am
Must be able to work overtime during emergency events.
