To Become a Voter in Woodbury

There are 3 ways residents can register to vote in the town of Woodbury

Online:

To register online, a person must be:

• A resident of the State of Connecticut
• A U.S. citizen
• At least 18 years old on or before the next Election Day
• Hold a valid Connecticut driver's license or other ID issued by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles.

If you meet all the above requirements, please follow the direct link to online registration: voterregistration.ct.gov.

If you don't hold an ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles you can still use the site to register to vote. Pick the option "I do not have a DMV ID" and follow the steps. Once completed, you will have to print the registration card, sign and date it, and mail it or deliver in person to the Woodbury Registrar of Voters at the address above.

You should receive a confirmation in the mail. If you do not receive this confirmation within three weeks after submitting your application, please contact the registrar's office.

In Person:

You can register to vote by coming to the Registrar of Voters’ office at Woodbury Town Hall, 281 Main Street South,

 

To register to vote in Woodbury a person must be:

• A resident of Woodbury
• At least 18 years old on or before the next Election Day

You must show or provide a valid identification (ID).  Acceptable ID's include (only ONE is necessary):

• A valid driver’s license or other photo ID
• U.S Passport
• A pre-printed form of ID, like a current tax bill or utility bill, pay stub or bank statement
• Social Security card

By Mail:

Residents can also register to vote by mail. Follow the link to obtain the registration form. Mail the completed form to the Registrar’s Office at address:

You should receive a confirmation in the mail. If you do not receive this confirmation within three weeks after mailing your application, please contact the registrar's office.

Same Day Voter Registration:

Same Day voter registration (also known as SDR) is only available for elections. It cannot be used for a primary, special election, town committee primary or referendum.

Eligibility requirements to register and vote on Election Day are:

1. The person is not already an elector or
2. Is registered in one municipality but wants to change his or her registration because he or she currently resides in another municipality.

By law, a person is eligible to register and vote if he or she is:

1. A U.S. citizen,
2. Age 18 or older, and
3. A bona fide resident of the municipality in which he or she applies for admission as an elector.

Voters will be required to provide identification that will prove their identity and their address. Acceptable forms of identification are driver's license, birth certificate, or social security card. If the identification does not include proof of address, the applicant must also provide documentation proving residential address e.g. a utility bill less than 30 days old, bank statement, property tax bill, paycheck, naturalization documents or a recent passport that includes the address.

In Woodbury, Same Day voter registration will take place at Woodbury Town Hall. Voters must have completed the registration process before being issued a ballot. All ballots must be cast by 8:00pm on Election Day. All same day applicants MUST cast the ballot immediately after registration.

Additional Information:

Property owners who are not registered voters in Woodbury may vote at the referendum providing they are U.S. Citizens, at least 18 years of age and own property valued at $1,000.00 or more recorded on the Woodbury Grand List. However, ownership of property cannot be in a "trust".
