GENERAL INFORMATION
The Elections Department consists of two Registrars of Voters -- who must be one Republican and one Democratic. Our mission is twofold:
- Protect the rights of individual voters/electors, and
- Ensure that all votes – elections, primaries, and referenda – are impartial, fair and in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
To make sure the Election Department accomplishes these important goals, we...
- Maintain and safeguard the Registry of Woodbury Voters, both the physical registration cards and the State voter Database, Connecticut Voter Registration System.
- Publicize and Conduct special Voter Registration sessions to encourage voter participation in the voting process
- Oversee all votes – Elections, Primaries and Referenda. Responsibilities include:
o providing a state certified Moderator for each vote/polling place
o training and staffing each polling place,
o ensuring that there are enough ballots
o maintaining the AccuVote™ Tabulators and documenting the results to make sure the voting process is as accurate, accessible and user- friendly as possible
Most Woodbury residents, 18 and over, are eligible to register and vote in Woodbury. To find out how, and to see other ways you can get involved in one of our most important rights as citizens of the United States.
