I am tracing my family lines. I have followed the Hoyt line to John R. Hoyt. He lived in Woodbury at the time of the 1870 census. He would have been 39 years old. I know he was born somewhere in New York state. I'm looking for any details that could narrow my search.

I am a descendant of Samuel Blakely (or Blakeslee) and his son Tilley Blakeley (spelling differed in those days!). According to "History of Ancient Woodbury," Samuel was one the 78 householde rs to receive a division of land in 1702. Tilley Blakeley died in Woodbury March 9 1769. I plan to visit Woodbury later this month and hope to learn more about the history of the town and the role by ancestors might have played in its early developmen t.

I grew up in Woodbury from 1964 to 1978, and moved back here with my family 4 years ago. This is a very special town- for so many reasons. Its history, beautiful streets (particula rly Main St.) and the many services offered make it a really good place to raise a family. I have such idyllic memories of my childhood here. Does anyone have any remembranc e of the Cheese Board?

John Hurd was a relative (possibly great-gran dfather) of my great-gran dmother, Elizabeth Hurd. Ziba Hurd, who was married to my great-gran dmother, was the grandson of the Ziba Hurd who was John Hurd's son, I believe. We have family pictures of Ziba Hurd's grave, possibly taken in the Woodbury area.

I am looking for BUTMAN descendant s in this area. I have an Alexander Butman or Buckland b in CT prob. about l770-1800. He then went to Otsego Co., NY and I lost him again!
Do es anyone know about the migration pattern from Litchfield Co. to Otsego Co., NY? IF so, could you enlighten me?

Als o interested in Fitch, Rockwell, Loope, Burlingame , Tanner and several other names in CT. Feel free to call me at 641 333 2537 if you have any info. My best guess is that he may have come from Killingly, Windham, CT or Fairfield Co., CT, but I am searching all CT counties. This is my dead end, so if you know any Butmans in CT., pleasecall or write. I think he had a brother named Benjamin who also came from the same spot in CT and moved to Otsego., NY. If you know about him, please let me know also.

Hello. I grew up in Woodbury & currently live in FL (however, will be moving back shortly!) I will be getting married 4 Oct 2009 & would like it to be an outdoor wedding. I am assuming that I will need some kind of permission , but am unsure of where to start. I am thinking about possibly having the ceremony near the river at the Hollow Pond. If anyone could help me out, it would be great. Please email me at maryalexz@ gmail.com

I am a descendent of James Linton, who was born in Sheffield, England and died in New Britain, Connecticu t. I grew up in New Britain, the grandson of James's first son, Henry Gilbert Linton. My father was Howard Frederick Linton.
M y great-gran dfather James's brother, Frederick Linton, came to Connecticu t about the same time as James did in the mid-1850's . Frederick, according to the family records we have, settled in Woodbury, marrying Jane Webster. They had seven children: Harry, Cora, Walter, Arthur, Florence, Lillian, and Minnie.
The last record I have of direct contact my immediate family has had with Frederick' s family was with a letter to my Aunt Helen Linton Grooman, who was doing a study of James Linton line in 1955. The letter was from Elsie, the wife of Frederick' s grandson Leroy (son of Harry) Elsie gave as much informatio n concerning Frederick' s descendent s as Leroy and she had memory or direct knowledge of.
I would love to hear from anyone with inform
